icons and program files lost office 2003

Post by bWljaGFlb » Tue, 06 Mar 2007 10:54:02

I installed a new hard drive after transferring all files. My desktop icons
for all office products are different and when I look up the office programs
under start-all programs and microsoft office, it lists the fiolder as empty.
The problem is that under c drive, I can access all the programs. Any ideas
on how to get the programs to re-list under start-program and refresh icons
to normal?????
thanks

You can't just copy over Office. You need to install it from the CDs.

the files be still on the hard drive but not listed in my programs?
thanks

Yes. The ability to just copy a program ended with the days of DOS.

In a nutshell it's because just copying the files across does not make
all the registry entries. The install process creates the necessary
entries to make everything work properly.
