MSP and MSI files missing

MSP and MSI files missing

Post by Davi » Mon, 12 Dec 2005 04:03:14

I just upgraded my hard disk drive to a larger drive utilizing the drive
manufacturers utility. I am now receiving an error message when opening
outlook, asking me to repair the installation. When I attempt this I get an
error message about missing msi files. I tried an office update online and
receive this

Windows Installer patch files (.MSP files) from previously applied Office
updates are missing from the \Windows\Installer hidden directory on your
computer. MSP files are stored on your computer after update installation
completes because they need to be referenced for future update operations.
If the files are missing you will not be able to apply Office updates. You
may also be unable to uninstall Office products as a result of the same
problem.

Any ideas?

MSP and MSI files missing

Hi David,

Generally, MS Office needs to be reinstalled rather than 'transferred'. Some of those 'utilities' leave behind the installed patch
folders. At this point you may need to use the MS Installer Cleanup utility to clear the entry for Office from the registry (backup
first) then restart, reinstall to the same location then reupdate. The Installer cleanup utility is available from
