I haven't been able to install Vista since it changed name from "Longhorn"
to "Vista" (don't remember the build numbers atm).
I am trying to install it on the following system:
- Shuttle barebone (ATI-chipset IXP150)
- Pentium4 2.8GHz
- 1Gb RAM
- 250 GB HD (IDE)
I have XP installed on the first parition, and I am currently trying to
install Vista on the second one.
The motherboard also has a SiliconImage SATA RAID chip, but I don't have
anything connected to it or using it.
I am starting the VISTA installation from within XP, but am not doing an
upgrade, instead I chose to install it on the second parition.
After the first movement of installation files, the installation program
reboots and enters the "Vistas core", during the "Expanding files" part of
the installation it always hangs on 76%. Does anyone have anything smart to
say about this or how I can get it to work?
I'm guessing that this has something to do with the ATI-chipset, since it's
not very common. But this is a far out guess...
Any known issues with this chipset or does anyone else in here been able to
install Vista Beta2 on a Shuttle barebone with ATI-chipsets?
