HC08 Programming ERROR

Post by sdelim » Wed, 24 Dec 2003 01:42:51

Hello all

I am working with the 908JB8. Every time I try to program my micro
using the MON08 - Multilink (using the parallel port). I get this

Can't Communicate with the target Processor! The processor may be
running. Select Ping to ping the CPU for a response, Select Reset to
reset the CPU and restart the monitor, or select Abort to switch the
simulation mode.

This communication error is not consistent. Sometime the micro will be
programmed without this error popping up.

Any of you guys have this problem and managed to fix it? Seems like
something is causing the micro to switch out from the MON08 mode.
Maybe noise?

Thanks for your help

I use the Multilink and usually get this problem when the P&E software is
set up to the wrong communication rate. I think the default is 9600 bauds,
and the communication rate depends on the clock frequency you drive your
target with. 9.8304 MHz -> 9600 bauds. 4.9152 MHz -> 4800 bauds, etc.

Hi Jeff

Thanks for the reply. How do I change the communication rate of the P
& E software. I have a 6.000Mhz crystal driving my MCU.

Thanks alot for your help
