Disable the built-in firewall on a Win2K Small Bus Server

Post by Brad Pear » Thu, 17 Jul 2003 05:50:29

We have a watchguard appliance for our firewall. Somewhere in the SBS setup,
I must have turned on it's own firewall and from time to time when a user
tries to run internet explorer on a terminal services session, they get a
username/password and domain sign on window pop-up. The screen header says
TRUE3 Firewall (where true3 is the name of our SBS server).

How can I disable the built in SBS firewall?

Thanks,

Brad

You can rerun Internet Connection Wizard and then on configure packet
filtering page select 'Disable ISA Server packet filtering'

Hello Brad,

To disable ISA Server, you will want stop and disable the following
services:

Microsoft ISA Server Control
Microsoft Web Proxy
Microsoft Scheduled Cache Content Download
Microsoft Firewall

Note that if Internet Explorer on the server is set to use a proxy server
on port 8080, you will want to uncheck to use a proxy server, otherwise you
most likely will not be able to load web pages from the server.
