SAN for Exchange and MS SQL

SAN for Exchange and MS SQL

I am in the process of reconfiguring the drives on my SAN to be more
productive, and I am unsure about one of my configuration options.
Due to the way the controllers are arranged and RAID requirements, I
will have three arrays available. All these arrays will have plenty of
space for storing our databases.
Onto those arrays I need to store an Exchange database and log files,
and a MS SQL database and log files.
As this is four distinct data sets and only three physical arrays,
I'm trying to determine which combination would provide optimal
performance.
I'm debating between configuring the system as
ARRAY1: Exchange Database
ARRAY2: MS SQL Database
ARRAY3: Log files Exchange and MS SQL
and
ARRAY1: Exchange Database and MS SQL Database
ARRAY2: Exchange Log Files
ARRAY3: MS SQL Log files
We could also go with some other combination, but these seemed the most
promising.
I think the second configuration may provide more performance, as there
is more activity to the log files than to the database files
themselves.
Would this be second configuration be best, or should I go with
something else?
