FC-AL backplanes/enclosures

Hi all,

I inherited a couple Fibre Channel Cheetahs (ST39102FC) that I'd like
to build a small but fast disk subsystem with. Can anyone recommend
reasonably priced backplanes or enclosures to build a nice loop? I'm
looking at 6 to 8 drives for a start but given that these are really
cheap on eBay, I'm wondering about extensibility as well.
I need a disk subsystem with high random throughput to test backup
applications.

Thanks,
Ralf-Peter

Try ebay, but you're going to be in for some sticker shock. You'll
spend much more on a FC enclosure (and cabling and an HBA) then you
paid for those disks, especially if you want to go 2Gbit.

I have some older eurologic shelves that I would be happy to part with
for $300 each.. $400 if you want sleds with them.. These are the
netapp FC-8 disk shelves (built to support 9 & 18GB drives) with
redundant power connections. These utilize a copper FCAL card which I
can offer for $200.
