Things that bug me!

1. People sending files to me done in SolidWorks when it obvious that they
didn't take the training class and then arguing with me about something
being wrong with the files.

That's all for today..Feel free to add yours to the list

people sending drawing files done in solidworks but forgetting to send
the PARTS.

1. Having to make a seemingly small change based on customer input
that changes part\assembly design intent
that makes the part\assembly almost completely unworkable as modeled
in the parametric feature tree history.
Also, having to basically remodel a part becasue of the situation
above COMPLETELY DESTROYING any assembly
intelligence built into the ORIGINAL design intent. (EVEN HAVING ALL
THE SW TRAINING AND BEING A CSWP!!!!!)

2. Unknowingly having pre-released details changed because of the
above situation and having improper fits and clearances
because of something that seemed seemingly minor to the customer but
not the ORIGINAL design intent.

3. Bills of materials constantly changing upon opening a drawing that
even has the "DO NOT CHANGE ITEM #'S" option turned on
destroying the origial part numbering.

4. COSMETIC THREADS MAY OR MAY NOT SHOW IN A DRAWING\MODEL
CORRECTLY. WHO KNOWS WHY!!!!!!!
THE DEADLINE IS DUE AND I JUST NEED TO RELEASE THIS F'ING DRAWING
THAT LOOKS LIKE IT'S A CLEARANCE HOLE!!!!

5. WHY CAN'T I JUST DRAW A SLOT FROM THE HOLE WIZARD!!!!!!!

6. Good thing I just saved my work 10 minutes ago... SW just crashed
AGAIN!!! I'm sure it's MY SOUND CARD! lol

7. why can't I draw a sketch point on the end of an existing line? I
can add relations to do this separate! (For hole wizard holes mainly)

8. WHY CAN'T I PICK TO FACES TO DEFINE A MID-PLANE?

9. WHY DO SIHOULETTE DIMENSIONS AND RELATIONS ALWAYS BROWN OUT FOR NO
APPRENT REASON ON DRAWINGS?

10. WHY DOES SW HAVE SO MANY QUIRKS? (TOO MANY TO LIST)

11. WHY DOES ONE SERVICE PACK FIX SOME ISSUES BUT BREAK MANY OTHERS?

12. WHY DID MY TANGENT MATE JUST FLIP IN MY ASSEMBLY???? WTF?

13. WHY DOESN'T BOB ZEE POST HERE ANYMORE?

14. WHY CAN'T I READ DUAL UNITS AT THE SAME TIME WHEN MEASURING?
THINGS LIKE THIS IS WHY NASA IS SLAMMING SATELLITES ONTO THE SURFACE
OF MARS!

I'm just frustrated today as well. I actually really like using SW
most days. let's hope they recognize a lot of the issues to deliver a
better product.

I apologize.

i've never had any formal training and would consider myself competent
enough to pass the cswp exam.

What bugs me is anyone that can't tell me what type of file it is.

"What do you mean you mean what type of file is it?"

I say," well let me try to make this a little more clear for
you...... w..h..a..t t...y...p...e... o....f
f...i...l...e... i...s i...t...?" (speaking slowly
helps sometimes)

"That's all for today..Feel free to add yours to the list"

Mechanical Engineers / Designers that have no practical machining
experience / don't know how to work with a machine shop and then get
upset when it takes so long to machine their *** ed up design / get
indignant that their model needs to be modified so that it can be
machined / machined at a reasonable price.

Last weeks example:

4" aluminum hogout with many tiny radius's on the walls that extend
all the way to the bottom.

Just because you can model it in SolidWorks doesn't mean it makes
sense in the real world to create your model this way.

"That's all for today..Feel free to add yours to the list."

The way SpaceClaim is marketed. No machining job shop that I know of
will ever go for subscription based licensing because the machining
job shop business is very cyclical. When things are slow you make due,
when things pick up you upgrade.

"the plural form of radius is radii."

"you're welcome."

Words that start sentences should be capitalized.

You're welcome.

bob z. lurks here almost everyday. bob z. doesn't want to 'ruin'
anyone's posting, so he tries to only post when it is beneficial for
everyone involved.

bob z. has been pretty busy lately, anyway, working with toolmakers
that like to machine all of the details for a weldment /prior/ to
welding. they come to good ol' bob z. with questions like, "how do
you expect me to hold this hole within .010?"
bob z. replies, "weld it and then machine it, of course!"
toolmaker says, "it is already machined."

sweetness!

Oh yeah! That is so very correct!

Thank you! You are a very, very sweet man. We should meet sometime.
You could tell me all of the finer points in machining,
capitalization, sweeping floors, getting back up off of the floor,
etc.

"Since I have never met or seen Jon Banquer, I thought I would make
my
way towards their booth to see what he looks like. As I approached
the
booth, I saw a short fellow in an animated discussion with two of the
vero people when suddenly one of the Vero people hit the short guy in
the face, knocking him down, flat on his back, to the floor. I called
the Viro manager and told him that his employees were having a fight
with some one. He told me that it was just Jon Banquer and not to
worry about it." Now, I would assume that Mr. Sivitter would not lie
about something like this in front of thirty five or more people."

"Uh, these mold drawings on our critical Project we've been on for 4
months...the 200 megs...uh huh."

"Well, I can't read them."

"You did what?"

"But we agreed to keep everything in SolidWorks 2006 because of bugs
in 2007 Pre-Release & SP0 isn't even out yet..."

"So you were bored and upgraded anyway..."

"I'll bet you keep two girlfriends on the side, just so you always
have a date after a long day with SolidWorks 2007..."

"Now you are going to force me to pay the upgrade early, just so I can
see my own project files...damn."

Programmers that get there CSWP and think they know everything about
SW and wont take input from anyone concerning design intent. They know
nothing about the product but they are the ones wrinting useless
macros for us to use and designing standard parts.
Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!
