Anyone have any good results with other compression progs that use a GUI? WinRAR is a good
combo. CAB is good too but is slower

WinRAR is a good

Compressia and WinRK both have very good compression (better than RAR) and a
GUI. Neither one is free, though. Some benchmarks:

WinRK GUI was atrocious and I didn't seem much improvement and again the GUI and features
were very lame compared to WINRAR

7-Zip??

I tried this a while ago. It doesn't compare to WinRAR in compression OR GUI & features

I had the older version on my comp & I dl the latest beta and it did compress better than
WinRAR but of course it took much longer to crunch and it's format is not accepted in "the
community" The GUI is not as good either BUT it's compression is better and I do acquiesce
that much. Thanks for the upgrade

I admit that the GUI is nowhere close to RAR, but it does all I want.
Also I have to use zip at work and nothing else matches 7-Zip's
algorithm.

I seem to remember somebody creating a GUI to wrap Skarin's PPMII
engine.
And if memory serves me correctly, this is what WinRAR uses on max
mode.
But as far as a good GUI goes, that subjective. :^)

Could u give me a link to your GUI. I alway love experiementing with different compression
programs. I know it;'s a scientific methodology to it but it always seems like magic to me
shrinking something much smaller and then being able to get it back again.

I see http://www.yqcomputer.com/ gives me some links to the program but no GUI
