There are several sites that I consistenly can't access. I also can't
join aim chat rooms. The problem
began on Feb. 26. Comcast has had me: reset security settings to
default, reset modem, power off modem for 8 hours at a time, reregister
modem,
reinstall browser, disable firewall and antivirus, check for host
file, check for lmhost file, disconnect router, disable dns and wins,
etc. In performing tracerts to these sites, I always get the error
message "Destination net unreachable" at ip 12.118.239.57, which is
almost always the fourth hop. The second and third hop are Comcast
ips.



Friday for the first time since then I was able to access the sites (and
join chat rooms) for
about 3 hours and the tracert didn't have that ip (12.118.239.57) as
one of the hops. Unfortunately the problem quickly returned. The same
sites are
still affected and the tracerts are the same.

Comcast just keeps assigning tickets, closing them as resolved and
never calling me with any details. I've had 6 tickets so far and still
nothing. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Plug cable modem directly into PC. Uninstall firewall / antivirus software.
Try that first and post results.

Also what OS are you using?
