The following updates are from the Internet-based Distributed Computing
Projects website ( http://www.yqcomputer.com/ ). These updates
cover public distributed computing projects (projects in which anyone can
participate).

October 14, 2004

- version 4.13 of the
( http://www.yqcomputer.com/ #boinc ) BOINC
platform client is available for Windows, Linux, Mac OSX and Solaris as of
yesterday. This version fixes an additional bug fix which affected some
( http://www.yqcomputer.com/ #setiathome )
SETI@home users.

- ( http://www.yqcomputer.com/ #foldingathome )
Folding@home released a new AMBER (Assisted Model Building with Energy
Refinement) core for its client software on October 12. This core will
allow the project to do things that it can't with its existing Tinker and
Gromacs cores.

Distributed Hardware Evolution Project were presented to experts at the
International On-Line Testing Symposium IOLTS 2004. "One expert said DHEP
may be the best method to design self-checking circuits." Also, the project
server has been unstable recently, so some clients may have trouble
connecting. The problem is being investigated.

- version 4.41e of the

Particle Accelerator Design client has had some strange crashes, and is now
in beta status while the problems are being studied and fixed

- Correction:

Einstein@Home's development project, Pirates@Home, is not in beta test and
is not ready for public participation. It is in an early stage of
development and currently has nothing to do with the Einstein@Home project.
If you are running the client, please stop running it as soon as possible.
Pirates@Home may ask for public beta testing help in the future.
