ASP Odbc error using IIS on XP

Post by Daniel Che » Tue, 05 Aug 2003 15:25:45

I have problems writing to database (ms Access) when
using IIS on XP. I dont have problems accesing the
database but I cant save or add records to it.

I've created System DSN on the ODBC Administrator.
DSN=AccountProfiler

Sample codes I used:

Set objConn1 = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
strConn1 = "Data Source=AccountProfiler;UID=sa;PWD=;"
objConn1.Open strConn1

Set objRS1 = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
objRS1.CursorLocation = adUseServer
objRS1.CursorType = adOpenKeyset
objRS1.LockType = adLockOptimistic
objRS1.Open "SalesPerson",objConn1, , ,adCmdTable

Error message appear in browser:

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot update.
Database or object is read-only.
/accountprofiler/newsalesperson.asp, line 54

Can anyone please give some advice on this? Thank you
very much.

Regards,
Daniel Chew

1. ODBC driver error using ASP

2. ASP 2.0.50215 using IIS 5.1 on XP Pro

I fully admit to being a true nubie, so be kind.

I've somehow screwed up my IIS 5.1 after installing ASP 2.0.50215 and
testing some basic ASP pages. I receive a Forbidden message which
appears at face value to be a permission issue but I'm running MS
Visual Web 2005 with administrative privledges.

I don't know this is the issue but I did note that the ASP settings
were calling for the web.config file found at:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\config\web.config.

I'm using ASP 2.0.50215 and in the similar directory:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50215\CONFIG

there is no file called web.config. there is web.config.comments and
we.config.default but no we.confg.

Thanks for any direction
