'dos based' and 'console application' are conflicting terms. console
applications have full access to the windows services for networking and
anything else a full windows gui type application has but it just doesn't
have its own window to handle gui stuff. dos based applications run in a
dos only mode or when booted just to dos and only have access to whatever
flavor of dos you use, so you may need to supply network drivers or even a
tcp/ip stack to even make any kind of network connection and then you would
not have access to things like windows odbc or database supplied windows
drivers. try supplying more details about what you are trying to do and
maybe someone could point you in the right direction.
