Access 97 and Access 2003 runtime together

Post by Ed Warre » Mon, 09 Aug 2004 20:28:31

I still have clients running Access 97, I need to install and run the
Access 2003 runtime and *.mde applications on their machines.

The last time I tried this was using Access 97 with the Access 2000 runtime
and after installing the Access 2000 runtime all the *.mdb files opened in
the runtime environment --- not what I want.

I want ONLY the *.mde files I create with 2003 runtime to run there.

Are there ways around this??

Thanks,

Ed Warren

Make sure the .MDE extension is registered to open Access 97, and use a
shortcut to ensure that the 2003 .MDEs are opened with the Access 2003
runtime.

Can either of you guys send me an Access 97 runtime. I think that it's
legal since you can ship it free with any *.mdb/*.mde.

Thanks.

Access 97 and Access 2003 runtime together

I have a similar situation with an access 97 mde installation on a machine
that has Access 2002 installed, but not Access 97. When I run the access mde
installation on a machine that doesn't have any version of Access installed,
the user can open the mde and run the application just fine. When I run the
installation on a machine that has Access 2002, when the user tries to run
the application, the Access 2002 "open/convert" dialog box opens, and with
either choice, the application won't open. Your reply below leads me to
believe that maybe I can change a registry setting to fix this problem. If
so can you tell me how to do this or point me in the right direction?

thanks

Dan

Try this:

ACCVER v5.0 - Allows you to work with
multiple versions of MS Access.
Detects the version of MS Access used to
create your databases and either starts
the appropriate version of MSccess or
reports the version number.

An additional option allows you to compact
the database from a right-click menu item.
