Is there any way to write SQL Analysis Services client
without creating MDX queries? I mean a programmatic way
to get the dimensions members etc without having to
construct MDX.

You can use schema rowsets in ADOMD.NET to get the members of dimensions,
but to get cell values you need to use MDX.

If you're looking for an interface to MDX; does't the PivotTable control
write MDX for you?

Actually, you can log the MDX used by PT services on the client side. Find
the .oqy file that is used for the cube (normally these are in c:\documents
and settings\sernameapplication data\microsoft\queries). Then add Log
File=ilespecto the line that starts with "Connection" , where ilespec is a file name with path and an extension of .log or .txt
(c:\temp\olaplog.txt, for instance).

This will write any MDX queries used by pivot tables using that .oqy file to
the log file.
