hi ,
is it possible to develop a CAD package using opengl.??
is yes how to proceed?? i am working on a thesis " study of feature
based modeling systems" and i have to submit a demo feature based
modeler for the same..
if somebody has already developed such a demo system ..i am interested
in the coding part of it..pls guide me ..

OpenGL draws things, that's all it does. It doesn
open windows, it won read the mouse or keyboard,
it doesn't store data or read/write files.

OpenGL can be used to display the output of a CAD
program, sure, but the actual "CAD" part is up to
you.

well..i was knwoing that opengl doesn't do any window management.but i
was not sure about its role in 3d geometry manipulation since at the
basic level CAD is nothing but the geometry manipulation..
are there any apis available dedicated to CAD program developement??

OpenGL cannot manipulate any data for you. With
very few exceptions the OpenGL pipeline is one-way.
You feed it data, graphics appear on screen.

Lots of them. There's even a lot of open source
CAD programs out there. Try google.

Search blender in google. Blender is a 3d modeeler that uses opengl for
all (modeling and GUI)
