I'm not having much fun converting my off-air VHS video recordings to
DVD. iMovie works fine, iDVD works fine, but the Miglia system is
getting on my nerves even though it does produce a file that works

I'm looking for the easiest way to do this. I wonder if anyone here is
having any luck with the boxes available at video outlets? I don't
know what they're called, but they're a combination VCR/DVDR/HD.
I looked at a couple at Video Only, but the sales people knew nothing
about 'em. Is anyone here using one? They seem to be priced at around
$500, which doesn't bother me if it's a decent solution.
I guess I would be happy to bypass the Mac altogether. IOW, drop in a
cassette and come back later on to a finished DVD that plays on a TV
and, of course, with DVD Player.
How do these boxes produce a menu and scenes? Will they produce a file
I can download into iMovie and manipulate? I'd like to discuss this
with someone and maybe get a recommendation on a brand/model.
