can you be more specific? I.e. do you mean they stop and never work again?
you have to reinstall the entire app? you have to buy a whole new computer?
or do you mean you have to stop clicking, set a new start point and start
clicking again? details, Chris, you need to be more detail oriented :)

True, a bit vague.

The clone tool appears OK, two circles as normal. But it does not lay down
any new pixels when dragging, it has no effect. This only happens on one of
my machines, the other is fine. In the properties bar all the clone tool
types have disappeared except for custom clone. The PC that works OK has a
long list of tools in the dropdown.

Googling around I found a few threads where people have described this
problem. Some say that F8 on startup clears the problem for a while but it
returns. Others have done reinstalls with the same effect, it comes back
after an indeterminate period of use. None of these threads had any fix or
workaround to offer. This quote is typical -

" KKG, I'm a rare user of PPaint (Pshop is so much more solid), but I did
some checking on the Newsgroups and apparently, this bug comes up even
still, in v12 (even after the patch).

Not everyone gets it though, which really makes it look like the cause may
be a hardware compatability issue. Even Rick Altman (a guy who writes books
on CDraw) was asking about it as of last month. The F8 rebuild of the
workspace is a temporary fix (and easier than a complete re-install), but it
looks like this might be a legacy bug. Ugh.

Sorry, but that's the best I could come up with."

I wondered if anyone here had more info - and a fix!!!!

Now you just need to learn to give us details like: what version are you
talking about? have all the service packs been applied? what OS are you
running? how much RAM on the system? how much freespace? howmuch space is
allocated to the swapfile? is the user a local admin? etc, etc? :)
