outlines and dimensions

Here's the problem I am having:

If I draw a 4" x 4" box with a 16 pt outline, the dimensions in Corel
are 4" x 4", while the true dimensions are slightly higher, due to the
outline having a thickness. Is there a setting I can change in Corel so
the dimensions in Corel reflect the true dimensions? It is very
frustrating when I am trying to make an ad with EXACT dimensions. I
realize I could set this up using the Contour Tool and I'd get actual
dimensions, but I wanted to see if there is an easier way.

Thanks,

Peter

I don't think there's a preference setting to do it, but Draw knows how to
do math and can mix measurement units. When you go to the Property bar to
set the size of the box you can enter the size minus the thickness of the
outline, i.e., 4-16pt

well, if you're using an *outline* that is centered, I believe, along that
line. You could try converting the outline to a curve, separating it from
the object (if it was still "attached), and then grouping them together. Or
insted of using the Outline tool, you could use Contour

Yes, Craig, that did it.

Thanks!

You could draw a 4"x4" box with the rectangular mask tool then stroke the
inside of the mask with a 16pt line. Keith

Forgive me, Keith, I don't know the rectangular mask tool in Corel. Can
you tell me where to look? I searched the help file quickly but
couldn't find it.

Thanks,

Peter
