x64 driver question

Post by S2lk » Fri, 24 Oct 2008 12:31:01

Hi

How can I write and build 64 bit driver, use 64 bit build environment is
enough ?
Should I notice something when implementing driver code ?

Which build environment should I use for WinXP Pro 64 bit ?

For inf section, should I use "NTamd86" decoration ?

Which wdf coinstaller should I use, amd64 or ia64 ?

Thank for your teaching .

Yes.

Lots of things to note, look at MSDN Library.

2003 x64
XP 64 is actually 2003 x64 with XP's UI

AMD64
IA64 is Itanium, not x64

Yes.

Basically, don't do "dumb" things. Don't assume that pointers will fit in
an "int" or a "long" or a "DWORD".

Windows Server 2003 x64. There isn't really a 64-bit version of XP; what
the marketing department calls XP 64 is really Windows Server 2003 x64 with
the name changed in the dialogs. That's why there's no SP3 for XP 64.

Yes. If you use the same driver file names, you don't even need the
decoration.

You should be able to figure this out. ia64 is for the Itanium chips.
