Hi

Is it better to hook the api's file open/create or am I better to write file
system filter driver? For winnt/2k/xp/2003

Don't hook the system calls, this is extremely dangerous and unsupported.
Also, what will you do for a driver that issues calls that bypass the system
calls? You are going to need a file system filter driver.

Spend the money and get Win2003 and the IFS DDK,
I bet that what you want to do exisits already.
