Realistic atmospheric fog settings? (POV-Ray)

Realistic atmospheric fog settings? (POV-Ray)

Post by Martha Goy » Thu, 20 Nov 2003 17:24:58

Hello,

I've looked around for this, and am not having much luck. I'm trying to
find out the best way to add natural atmospheric haze to a pov-ray
scene. Nothing fancy like visible light rays or anything, just simple
settings for the 'fog' keyword, i.e.:

fog {
distance ???
color rgbf <???,???,???, ???>
fog_type 2
fog_offset ???
fog_alt ???
}

I'd assume a large ground fog, with a light blue color, but everything
I've tried looks like crap.
(assuming 1 unit = 1 meter)

Anyone have any pointers/links?

Many thanks,

M

to
simple
everything

Here's one I recently used, but, it depends a lot on what's in the
scene and the camera.

fog{ fog_type 2 //ground fog
color rgbt <0.75, 0.80, 0.86, 0.2> // blue-ish
fog_offset 15
fog_alt 1
distance 400
}

Play with fog_alt, fog_offset, and distance.
Hope it helps,
