Local Area Connection settings

Dear All,

With VB6 - I have made a little program to change the Network-Card
Configuration (IP-Adress, DNS, WINS, GATEWAY etc.). This program
shoulds help to configure our W2K3-Servers automatically by the
administrators. It works fine ;-)).

Now, I am still searching for a resolution to change the
Full-/Halfduplex-Mode of the NIC. I know, it's complicated to change
this mode by VB6 (no API or WMI resolutions). So, for that reason,
(and because I have no other ideas) I wish to open the standard
control panel window, so that the administrators can change this
option (Duplex-Mode) manually.

Is there a possibility to open the standard control-Panel window
"Local Area Connection properties" by VB6?

(open with START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | NETWORK- AND
DIAL-UP-CONNECTIONS | LOCAL AREA CONNECTION | PROPERTIES)

In this window, there is a button to change the settings of the
network-card (like Duplex-Mode).

Do you have any ideas how to open this standard window by VB6?

I have tried it with the code as follows:

Public Function ShowNetworkConnections(WindowStyle As VbAppWinStyle)
Shell "explorer.exe ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}" & _
"\::{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" & _
"\::{7007acc7-3202-11d1-aad2-00805fc1270e}", WindowStyle
End Function

But this Function opens only the Explorer-Windows "Network and Dial-up
Connections".

Thank you very much for your answers!!

Greetings,

Andreas

1. help with local area connection settings

2. Local Area Connection fails to show correct TCP/IP Settings

Heres a odd one.

I set the tcp properties via the LAC Settings page, come out, then
when i
go back in its back to obtain automatically address via dhcp.

If you look at ipconfig, it claims to be set statically, but not when
you check the properties of the local area connection.

Ive had to add a reservation to dhcp to ensure its assigned address
keeps being assigned to it.

In ipconfig /all it does say its not enabled, but I cant change it in
the lan properties. v strange. The issue is that if you add a second
ip address to the card, you cant then get rid of it, as the lac
properties dilog box is alows blank (as it thinks its dhcp)

Cheers
