IE status bar loads infinitely

Post by Riccard » Fri, 13 Feb 2009 16:20:06

I'm using IE 6.0.2900.5512.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236 with javascript
procedure.
When I click on function for retrieving patient data,
status bar loads infinitely (small green squares appears one to one
more more slow in
infinite time) but I can see all data correctly as well as all web
page.
What can you suggest me ?

Probably you're trying to manipulate with DOM while page still
loading. For example, I had simplar problem as you when trying to load
page containing this script:
<html>
<head>
document.getElementsByTagName('html').className = 'JS';
</head>
<body>
.....

I can see where that would be a problem.

Web service is on my company internal server.
When I click on specific button, I can retrieve information correctly
infact fields are correctly filled.
IE status bar shows on the left the url, which is opening, and I can
see written,immediately after, "done".
In the same time, on the right of status bar, I can see small green
squares which grow slowly in about 3-4 minutes
although data appear correctly as well as specific buttons.
Only problem is status bar which continue to proceed when there is no
activities to do!!!

Dmitri Ischenko meinte:

Interesting. Since getElementsByTagName() returns a collection...

Probably waiting for </body></html>

Plenty of broken code sends usable screens.

There is no "javascript", and there are no "procedures" in ECMAScript
implementations.

Which looks like ...?

document.close();

and not to insert manual line-breaks in Google Groups if you don't know
where the automatic ones happen. < http://www.yqcomputer.com/ #posting>

You're right, I made a mistake. I wanted to write this:
getElementsByTagName('html')[0].className = 'JS';

Which is unsurprisingly unreliable at best. I do hope you removed that line.
