Use

window.opener = window;
window.close();

Works on every version of IE if have recently come across. Other browser may
*** on it though.

Right-click Desktop -> Properties -> Appearance tab -> from Items:
select "Caption Buttons" and increase the Size.

Hi

this works on IE5.5, IE6 and Opera 6.0,
but not IE5.0.

function closewin() {
window.opener="AnotherWindow"
window.close()
}
