subsection -can't add new records

Post by jb » Sat, 11 Oct 2003 03:53:57

I have a basic Customers/Invoices table setup, Customers
Form including Invoices subform. I converted this to a
DAP, but the Invoices subsection won't allow me to add
new records. I can both edit and add records in the
Customers section, but I can only update existing records
in the Invoices subsection. The navigation bar is greyed
out too. All the Allow properties are True. I have a
Total field in the subsection footer.
All this works fine in the Form/Subform, and the DAP is
basaed on exactly the same Table recordsets.
Help please!

main form/ sub forms won't work in DAP's. Each table should have its own
entry form.
I don't use DAPs so there may be a way to ensure that referential integrity
remains intact.

According to something I've read, you need to include the primary key
in your Invoices section, and make sure the Invoices section is based
on a table, not a query. If based on a query, you need to include the
primary key from the "many" table of the query.

Hope this helps somewhat.
