Reordering a column on a Paradox table

Reordering a column on a Paradox table

Post by Alberto Nu » Wed, 14 Jul 2004 21:04:50

I've got a table with Student names, records etc..
One of the fields is the order that the students were registered

My problem is i need to reorder the students when i have to delete a student
record.

Ex.
Student order n1
2
3
4 Suppose i delete n4
5 I need this one to become n4 and so on

Can any one help?
I'm using delphi 7 and paradox tables.
Thanks

What I would do is have a time/date field that records when the student
registered, and build an index on that field.

Why do you need to change "Student order" column? If you run a query
ordered by "Student order" then it will come out in the correct order
if the contents are 1 2 3 5 just the same as if they were 1 2 3 4.
