Eiffel Web site

I believe it was someone in this newsgroup who gave a URL
for Eiffel. I went to the site to see what was there and
tried to download the compiler package that is offered
(via a convoluted route). I used one of the mirror sites
and started to download the (70?) Mbyte package. As the
download proceeded, the transfer rate got steadily slower
and completion time was increasing without limit. I
finally aborted the transfer when the estimated time to
complete went past 4 hours.

Is this typical of the sites used by the Eiffel people?

Speed depends on wqhat can be delivered by the site,
as well as your own ISP.

Typically, speed slows after your ISP has delivered a
reasonable amount, as they give priority to the first
100K or so in the hope that it;s a small file.

You could try downloadiong late at night, when things are
less busy.

70Mb is a hefty chunk, however.

I am the person who recommended taking a look at
Eiffel.

Send an email to the contact person at Eiffel. There is a button
labeled CONTACT. Let them know of the download
problem.
