Announcement: Poplog on AMD64

Post by hebisc » Tue, 15 Feb 2005 14:35:57

I have an experimental port of Poplog to AMD64. The port is available
at

http://www.yqcomputer.com/ ~hebisch/poplog/amd64-poplog.html

It is a patch on top of Birmingham distribution (see instructions
at the page above). The system recompiles itself and generates
saved images for pop11, clisp, prolog, pml. X works (I tried both
Lesstiff and X toolkit).

All things I tried works, but note that the port is quite fresh
so do expect bugs.

1. AMD64 version of poplog

2. AMD64 Poplog re-packaged and available

We at last have a 64-bit dual-cpu Opteron running 64 bit linux (Fedora
core 3).

32 bit poplog works fine on that, as described here

http://www.yqcomputer.com/

Previously I reported as follows regarding the 64 bit poplog, ported by
Waldek Hebisch earlier this year.

I have now found that this problem occurs only when poplog is linked
with 64-bit OpenMotif. If poplog is linked without motif, then
everything seems to work fine, except that XVed lacks pull-down menus
and a scroll-bar.

I don't know if the problem will occur if 64bit Lesstif is used instead
of motif.

Anyhow the latest package for poplog on AMD64 linked without motif is
available to be fetched, installed and run here

http://www.yqcomputer.com/

Read the .txt files.
