makefile and PSDK

I have found it generally impossible to create a stable makefile when
linking with PSDK libraries. That's because nmake (VS6) appears reject long
names in paths and short names for directories can be different on different
machines depending on the order or creation/installation of the directory.
Thus a makefile that works on a developer machine often does not work on our
production build machine. Is there a solution to this problem?

Use environment variables, i.e. $(PSDKLIB) in your makefile, then use the
System Control Panel to configure the variables correctly for each machine.

This is a lot of work for the first project, but additional makefiles will
then be able to move between machines with no additional setup time.
