I am trying to find new email client software. Any suggestions please
based on the spec below?

Regards,

Vic Lilley

1. Operation
1.1 Target Hardware
1.1.1 Intel P4 low spec
1.2 Operating Systems
1.2.1 Linux (primarily) and
1.2.2 Windows XP (fallback0
1.3 Supplier
1.3.1 Not Microsoft
1.4 Can fire up as separate program (e.g. not with browser)
1.5 Save email as draft
1.6 Spell checker
1.7 Email merge
1.8 Can integrate with external databases. For example, a database
with snail mail addresses in too. And use open or popular standards so
data from an external supplier could be used too.
1.8.1 Thinking of using the python database program
1.9 Highly reliable. Few bugs
1.10 Easy to Use
1.11 Documentation (User Manual and Help) good
1.12 Show up spelling mistakes in red immediately without having to
run a spellcheck
1.13 Signature on replies above the original email.
1.14 Spam Filtering
1.15 Integrates with entire computer directory e.g. windows explorer.
So can file emails like any other file. Then do not need to duplicate
general directory strucure in email client
1.16 Cost
1.16.1 Open minded
2. Modification
2.1 Updates controllably, not automatic.
3. Disposal
3.1 Uses an open or common data (addresses etc.) storage format to
allow switch to different email client without conversion or can
import
3.2 Uses an open email (sent etc.)storage format to allow switch to
different email client without conversion or can import
3.3 Long product life
4. Installation
4.1 Easy to install
4.2 Documentation (Installation Manual and Help) good
4.3 Support
Accessible, fast and effective. Minimal use of my time
4.4 Import existing Netscape emails (nice to have)
4.5 Try out first
4.5.1 On existing Windows 95 (Nice to have)
