mutt's questions not visible

Post by Visvanath » Wed, 11 Aug 2004 05:27:13

Hi there

I have a situataion where some of the questions mutt asks me
are not visible. They are the usual checks like "Move read messages
to mbox [yes]/no?" type on the bottom of the screen.

I have to type y,n or <Enter> blindly :-(

A known problem perhaps?

That sounds like a bad TERM setting. mutt's painting the screen
assuming it's got X lines by Y columns to work with, and that
assumption is wrong.

I'd say whatever terminal program you're using (xterm, rxvt, eterm,
wterm, kterm, gnome-terminal, ...) is confused. Sorting it out will
solve the mutt problem.

Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.

Colors issue? A prompt of "black on black background" (that lights up
black) might cause this. I've never heard of the prompt vanishing

Is your mutt linked against slang? If true, try exporting the following
envrionment variable:

for bourne like shells:

export COLORFGBG="default;default"

or for csh like shells:

setenv COLORFGBG "default;default"

You can verify if you use a slang linked mutt using

ldd `which mutt`
