Extended maildir

Post by Sven Mayer » Tue, 13 Mar 2007 22:58:05

I have organized my mailboxes according to extended maildir format:

Mail
cur
new
tmp
.fruits
.fruits.oranges
.fruits.apples
.animals
.animals.penguins
.animals.mice

Now I want Mutt to show my mailboxes to me this way:

Inbox
Fruits
Oranges
Apples
Animals
Penguins
Mice

Thanks in advance!

S.

That's one of my pet hates about the Courier (and other) way of
handling a maildir hierarchy. Why it doesn't use real directories and
thus a proper / delimiter I will never understand. Other servers do
use real directories witrh maildir so why Courier (and a few others)
don't I have no idea.

I think you may be stuck with the . delimiter because you have used
"extended maildir format".

AFAIK, Mutt doesn't display folders in a hierarchy at all, only either a
flat list of them (list of mailboxes with the y command), or only the
current level in the directory hierarchy.

IMVHO it would be useful if Mutt could display a hiearchy of folders.
