How to mark things to *keep*, then delete everything else?

Post by dkcomb » Tue, 27 Nov 2007 11:55:08

I've been away on a trip for two weeks, and when I get back
I look at my email.

UGH! SPAM GALORE!

As I scan down the list, the final 10 pages of it seems to be
98% spam.

What I'd *like* to do is go through and mark the few NON-spam ones,
then, for those pages, hold down the d key and -- oops

, you see my problem.

1: to mark items to *keep*.

2: to delete (from "here" on "down") everything else.

What with mutt's flexibility, there must be *several* ways
to do this.

Any ideas?

THANKS!

David

Mark all as "deleted" with <delete-pattern> function with ~A pattern
applied. Then go through and "undelete" those you want to keep.

In article < XXXX@XXXXX.COM >,

Thanks much!

Now, how to do that "from here on down"?

Like, having already cleansed the *prior* emails
(many still marked "new"), I want to cleanse the
*more recent* emails, ie the ones that have arrived
since my *prior* cleansing action.

Any techniques for doing that?

Thanks!

David

See "Patterns" section in manual.txt, you can specify date- or
item-number -ranges instead of ~A.
