Building 2.6.10 kernel for Debian fails in traps.c

Post by John Beard » Mon, 24 Jan 2005 10:13:30

Building the 2.6.10 kernel for Alpha Debian v3r3, I get the error
message:

CC arch/alpha/kernel/traps.o
arch/alpha/kernel/traps.c: In function `opDEC_check':
arch/alpha/kernel/traps.c:55: parse error before `['
make[1]: *** [arch/alpha/kernel/traps.o] Error 1
make: *** [arch/alpha/kernel] Error 2

Has anybody seen this and found a work around ?

Thanks, J/.

You have an SX164, right? My 2.6 kernels boot just fine on such a
machine. You're not by any chance fooling around with initrd, are
you?

Yeah, I have a copy of an older traps.c from 2.6.0 (or maybe even 2.4.x). I've
seen the very same thing, and I used the older traps.c to build the kernel.

(Same kind of box, Alpha PWS 500a)
On Debian, the opDEC_check did not work....
On Gentoo, the opDEC_check did work.
On Redhat, the opDEC_check did not work....

I know, it's dangerous, but it worked :^\ .....
