Porting Binutils to DJGPP

Porting Binutils to DJGPP

Post by vivekia » Tue, 07 Oct 2008 01:08:16

Hi,

I am looking to port the latest binutils version 2.18.50.* to DJGPP to
find support for a couple of new Intel instructions.

Any pointers or help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
vivekian

Are You sure binutils-2.18 is not enough?

Building 2.18 for DJGPP is not too difficult. 2.18.50.0.X is worse.

One of the features which i need -- support for MOVNTDQA is only
available in gcc 4.3.2 and binutils version 2.18.50.0.3:
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

Thats the only reason i ask for it else i would be happy with
binutils-2.18 itself.

Thanks,

I would then suggest to try 2.18.92 from sources.redhat.com

There are several steps to be done for porting:
- fixing libeberty build (see how I did it for GCC-4.3.2). You need also
autoconf-2.59 for this (exactly that version). gcc-4.3.2 was better in this part.
- fixing DJGPP linker scripts (see last available DJGPP ports of binutils or my
SRPM package available from ftp://ftp.delorie.com)

Thanks Andris.
One further question : How does one go about fixing the libeberty
build ? Any pointers ?
