Anyone use MySQL on NetWare?

Post by Bud Durlan » Mon, 27 Sep 2004 00:24:55

I have a new NetWare 6.5 server that is primarily for iFolder and
NetMail. The server is using MySQL as the repository for NSure audit.
I've noticed that NSure regularly can't connect to the MySQL server
task. It goes into "caching mode" for a bit, then can reconnect and
presumably dump the cached data to the database.

Some time ago, I tested MySQL on NetWare 6.0 for a small in house app
and saw the same behavior -- periodically, MySQL simply will not accept
connections or honor requests from established connections.

Has anyone else seen this?

1. Anyone using Netware 6.5 as a Virtual Server?

2. Anyone using Snow Leopard and Prosoft Engineering Netware Client?

The subject sort of says it. I have to use Prosoft Engineering's
Netware client (v.2.0.1) to access our network drives. Worked OK under
Leopard. But, under SL, it is acting pretty strange. I can see the
network drives and see their contents. In column mode, when I pick a
file, I see its preview, and Quickview works fine. However, I can't
move files from the network drive to my drive in the Finder, and
graphics files don't open in Preview. When I try to transfer files, I
get a message saying I don't have read permission, though the Get Info
dialog box says I do. Strangest of all, I can open these files with
3rd party apps (Word 2004, Excel 2004, Photoshop CS), and save them
onto my drive. Anyone have any suggestions about what to do?

Thanks in advance.
