Hi Mike;
I am using '(0) use BytePos. for cuts' and I use "demux' in the
ProcessWindow.
Can you post your 'PreSettings'?
Here is what I have. I am only listing the options that I have checked.
Options -Buffer 'use additional input buffer'
main i/o 1024000
pre-scan 512000
pre-view 512000
Output -split output 'split @ appr. 1024 MB'
-stream types to process 'Mpg video' 'Teletext' 'Mpg Audio'
'Subpicture' 'AC3/DTS Audio' 'Generic_VBI' 'LPCM Audio'
-write options for conversion & demux 'write all video data'
'write all other data'
Special -specials 1 'PVA: strictly specs. for audio streams' 'VOB:
determine diff. Cell timelines' 'TS: ignore scrambled packets' 'TS:
enhanced search for open packets' 'TS: join file segments (of Dreambox)'
'TS: generate PMT stream dependant'
-specials 2 'get only enclosed PES/TS packets' 'concatenate different
recordings' 'ensure 1st PES-packet start with vid' 'generate PCR/SCR from'
Video -video corrections 'add sequence end code' 'insert sequenzendco
on format c' 'ensure each GOP has sequencehea' 'patch c.d.flagged infos
of pictures' 'set resolution in SDE'
Audio -audio conversions (demultiplex) 'add RIFF(RIFX) header to PCM
(.wav)'
-audio manipulations (demultiplex) 'check CRC of AC-3 /
MPEG-Audio L' 'delete CRC in MPEG-Audio Layer1,2' 'add frames'
Extern -externals / post processing 'create cellTimes.txt for multiple
infi'
-projectfile settings 'create *.dv2 Projectfile on demux:'

When I select my cut-points and then run 'Quickstart' I end up with 3
file pairs for each file created. One with the d2v extension, one with
the mpv and one with the mp2 extension. The mp2 and mpv files have to be
joined with mplex. I use :
mplex -f 8 -o joinedfile.mpg file.mp2 file.mpv
Hope this helps.

How to cut commercials with ProjectX?

Post by Mike Snyde » Sun, 10 Sep 2006 05:33:53

I am using ProjectX with GoldenCode Java under eCS 1.2. I've recorded
some files from the TV with EmperoarTV, and would like to eliminate
some portions of the files, like commercials.
I can load the files into ProjectX and mark cut points. When I tell
ProjectX to process the file, with the demux button clicked, I get
video and audio files, but the portions of video and audio inside the
cut points are still in the files.

I don't understand something important about this process, and reading
the directions at http://www.yqcomputer.com/
isn't helping me.

Can someone who understands how to do this please help me?

Hi Mike;
I have this too.

Have you tried to play the resulting mpv file in EmperoarTV to see if
the cuts have been made? I have EmperoarTV setup to record 1G files and
2 hrs TV is 3G + 256MB. After I make my cuts and rejoin the files I end
up with a file just over 1G and a file just over 900MB.
The only difference that I can see between my setup and yours is the
'Mpeg2Schnitt idd version: V2/A3' and the fact that I am using Innoteks
JAVA142.
The only time I saved my cutpoints is when I was having a problem, for
some reason ProjectX doesn't like running in SMP mode.
By the way, what format do you save your recordings in EmperoarTV? I
use NTSC and 'DVD2 Extra Long Play'. This might make a difference with
ProjectX. As I remember straight DVD didn't work with ProjectX.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting these. That's a lot to type. I have the same
settings except for two things.

In the box below this I have 65000. I don't know why, except that it
must be a default.

I've also checked "Mpeg2Schnitt idd version: V2/A3"

I didn't have the last one until I found an instruction to check it on
one of the web sites this morning, but I wasn't getting what I wanted
before I checked it, either.

I'm not getting any file with a .d2v extension, but I do get the .mpv
and .mp2 files, one per input file, in other words, it's not cutting
anything. Do you have to save the cutpoints to a file for it to work?

Yes, but I usually use Warpvision. They both still show the file with
the "cuts" still there.

I have EmperoarTV setup to record 1G files and

I have it set up to record as DVD Extra Long Play, 1 G files. I get
about the same file size as you. Running this through ProjectX and
then mplex reduced an hour that I just recorded from 1.7 Gb to 1.3 Gb,
without cutting anything. I guess that if the cuts had worked I'd
have about 900 Mb.

I'll try using Innotek Java. I didn't because someone on the Emperoar
forum said that it didn't work. Thanks again for your help.

Mike
