SNAP (Build 411) 16:9 format

Post by johnsut » Sun, 28 May 2006 17:36:37

I have replaced a 15" monitor with a HP f2105 (maximum 1680 1050 60) LCD which
worked out of the box.

My problem is getting the application text and graphics in the correct H to V
proportion when the 16:9 ratios are selected in SNAP. (4:3 ratios are not a
problem)

Although SNAP lists the f2105, it does not offer the 1680 1050 resolution, and
the other resolutions produce wrongly proportioned images in all 3 hardware
display options.

The onboard chip is Trident Blade 3D (VIA VT 8601) 8MB.

Any suggestions?

As far as I remember you can add any custom resolution with the tools
provided with SNAP. Look for gamode.exe.
However, I did not test it myself, because 1600*1200 is suitable for me.

Hi John,

The video may well be the problem. Or the Snap level. Why don't you
try the trial version of Snap from the Scitech site to see if it
helps. I just bought a Viewsonic 20" widescreen monitor and it's
working perfectly with a ATI X300 video card. As soon as I rebooted
Snap (v3.1.6) offered me 1680x1050 and I rebooted and that was it....

gamode.exe did the trick; many thanks Marcel.

The effect is an order of magnitude better than the CRT.

With the wide screen, I should not again need to pan html or pdf files.
