I am scanning slides on the Minolta Dimage III using the included
software (not the EZ version). I'm trying to streamline the process as
much as possible, in order to get through my grandparents' 40+ reels of

I've created a custom wizard with the settings I have chosen, which
allows me to scan four at at time. However, it seems that time is
wasted each time with the prescan and displaying it on the screen.

Since I do not need to view the slides on the screen and do any
editing, is this an option that can be turned off? Any other tips for
removing time-consuming steps?

I will only be displaying them on a DVD slide show (will be posting the
"what's the best resolution" in a separate post if I don't find it
already addressed previously).

Here's what I'm using now:
- pixel polish
- dust removal
- cropping outside edges

Not sure if this will fit into your customized wizard workflow, but I
went through the same scenario with the same scanner. After the first
batch of 4 were scanned, I found I didn't need to do a prescan for
each the next batch... just tell it to scan (the 3rd arrow; the solid

Have you got autoexpose for slides ticked in pref's? If the case, maybe
turning it off will cause the preview to be skipped?
