Minolta Dimage Scan 5400 -Batch scanning problem

Post by fdraymon » Tue, 21 Oct 2003 04:17:15

The Dimage 5400 has a batch scanning mode, but I can only seem to save
the files as ".bmp" files. The recent upgrade to the software didn't
seem to address this problem. Has anyone figured out whether it is
possible to save the files as ".tif" or ".jpg"?
If not, is it possible to get as good resolution from a .bmp file?
And, in case you're wondering, I am not talking about either the "Easy
scan" or "Scan utility" modes, but the mode referred to by the
software itself as "Batch scan."
Thanks

Assuming you use the "Dimage Scan Utility" (eg: not Easy Scan).

Begin a scan (single or batch) from the utility (eg: don't do this from
PhotoShop), when you press the 'scan' button on the screen, a file menu
opens, select the type of file you want for the target (TIF, JPG).

Next time you scan the default will be this type as well.

Haven't worked with batch scanning utility in new version.
I did take a look i can't find the option where you specified what frames
you wanted to scan in batch mode. I'm sure this was included in old batch
version.

As far as i know BMP is like TIF. Maybe you'll get TIF format if you'll
select 16 bit insted of 8 bit mode.

Why bother with batch scan utility anyway??
Normal Scan utility works the same. You do index, select all and scan. Batch
utility works the same: index, prescan and then scan.
