Configuring BIND to give different IPs to different users

Configuring BIND to give different IPs to different users

Post by gilsha » Thu, 20 May 2004 20:45:57

Hi

Let's say I have BIND DNS cache server working and I get a query to
resolve www.microsoft.com.
I want to configure BIND to answer in two modes:
1) For IPs from a certain subnet, I would like to get the answer:
1.1.1.1
2) For IPs from a different IP subnet, I would like to get the real
IP.

Can that be done?

Thanks,
Gil

Not with a caching server but if you configure the server to be
authorative for microsoft.com. you could have two views. As the=20
view is choosen depending on clients address it will work.

In article <c8gbac$1ord$ XXXX@XXXXX.COM >, XXXX@XXXXX.COM (Gil Shai)

Yes, use views. In one view make the server authoritative for the
"www.microsoft.com" zone, in the other view leave this zone out.
