Not all linuxes do it like that. Debian (also a large player) and Redhat
enterprise linux just call it ntp (ntp-server).

Looked at my Windows client running K9:

K9 allows one to run with debug info, that answers
the question...


....approximately every 64 seconds. K9 pops up windows that
tell how much the clock was adjusted, as well as the source IP
address.


64 seconds is fine with me. Changes to the client Windows computer's
clock are just a few milliseconds.
