Tail detection

Hi,
Is there any method to detect the "heads and tails" of
wormlike objects? I tried out corner detection but it seems
that it is unable to detect some of the more rounded
corners.

Just look at the direction it moves, how it eats, or where
it has a larger segment, or ask a worm(-like object) expert ...

Seriously, you need to provide more information. Formulating
your question properly is one of the key objectives in
finding a solution.

although not being a worm-like object expert i dare to
propose just to find the whole object by line detection and
then use its ends..

Hi,
I have already obtained the black and white image with
the "worms" in white and the background in black. The shape
of one worm is similar to an oblong rectangle. Because I
have used edge detection followed by imclose, the "sharp"
tips appear slightly rounded instead. Is there any way to
detect these as the true ends?
