Hi. I want to creat 10 x 10 banded and dense matricies seperately.
Please show me how.
Thank you so much.

matlab does not know about banded matrices. it only knows about full and
sparse matrices. what do you want to do with them? if you ask something,
then do it by posting a REAL question, where it is possible to give an
answer...

Hi, Michael. Thank you for your response. I need to create a 100 x 100
banded and dense matricies and then calculate the condition number for
each matricies. For the sparse matrix, I know that sprand (m, n ,
density) command. I am not sure how to create banded matrix with a big
dimension. A dense matrix means that a matrix with non-zero componts.
In that case, can I just use rand (10, 10) for any numbers? Any hint
for me?

Thanks

spdiags will generate banded matrices in sparse form.

In article <woodchips-8A88C2.17191115022006@syrcnyrdrs-03-
ge0.nyroc.rr.com>, XXXX@XXXXX.COM says...

and use diag for full matrices.

or if you don't want random sparse matrices, spdiags.
