RISC OS Shared Source at London RISC OS user group, Monday 15th January 2007

Post by dgs » Sun, 14 Jan 2007 06:45:22

The next meeting of the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) will be:

Steve Revill from RISC OS Open Ltd
and
Jack Lillingston from Castle Technology Ltd

"The RISC OS Shared Source Initiative"

Monday 15th January 2007, 7:45pm
(informal discussions from about 6pm onwards)

The Blue-Eyed Maid (upstairs)
173 Borough High Street
London
SE1 1HR

Steve and Jack return to ROUGOL to give this joint presentation. They
will be talking about the creation of RISC OS Open Ltd and the recently
launched RISC OS Shared Source initiative, which won "Best Ingenious
Project" in the Drobe "Best of 2006" awards.

Steve will be able to show how the new RISC OS Open website works,
including the framework for managing the shared source project, and the
bug tracking facilities. There may possibly also be a chance to look at
the first batches of RISC OS source code released.

Jack should also be able to demonstrate RISC OS 5.12 for the Iyonix, and
talk about the developments arising from it, including support for new
graphics cards on the Iyonix, and the upgrade process.

The meeting will benefit from video projection, so everyone should have a
great view. A wide range of hot and cold food, *** ic and
non- *** ic drinks (quite expensive), will be on sale. Admittance is
free and everyone is welcome.

Anyone with wireless enabled handhelds or laptops should be able to access
the internet during the meeting, or (if time allows) use ROUGOL's own Risc
PC to do so after the main presentation has finished. Please speak to
Tommy Lowe or Bryan Hogan if you have problems connecting.

The venue is between London Bridge and Borough tube stations, so readily
accessible by public transport (both stations are a five minute walk away,
through well lit and CCTV'd main streets). It also benefits from ample
cycle parking (covered by CCTV) very close by.

If you are arriving by car, the Congestion Charge ends at 6:30pm and our
meeting starts much later. However, please note that parking on double
red lines is restricted at all times. On single red or yellow lines, it
is best to park after 7pm. If you aren't completely familiar with
*central* London parking or driving, please allow extra time, patience,
and maps.
