Future of RISC OS (Was: Software Piracy on RISC OS)

It's perfectly straightforward. Netsurf is under the GPL. If Aaron
couldn't work that out then he would have to assume it has no license
and therefore was not distributable at all.

He distributed it outside the terms of the GPL so he's in breach of any
licence that exists for Netsurf.

Not really. I was hoping that he was going to give a reasonable
explanation. It seems a little uncharitable to assume that a post
from Aaron will cause an argument.

I'm wondering what he's going to do in the future to help RO move
forward. VA may have kept many users in the market. It may also have
prevented hardware development and caused users to leave the market. No
one really knows.

I want to see RO on new hardware and I think a lot of other people do.
VA is actually holding that back by emulating very old hardware so ROL
don't need to get RO working on new hardware.

Subject duly changed.

Cheers,

Ollie

2. Non-RISC OS partitions on IDE/SCSI podules and counting RISC OS 5 discs

Can partitions used by operating systems[1] other than RISC OS, on discs
attached to podules supporting partitions, be accessed as individual discs
using the FileCore SWIs?

All of them, or just some?

Or failing that, can the whole disc be accessed?

Also, how do I find all the drives on a RISC OS 5 system? On earlier
versions of RISC OS I can find all the FileCore instances with OS_Module
12, then use FileCore_Drives to find the number of "floppies" and "hard
discs", end then assume "floppies" are numbered from 0 and "hard discs" are
numbered from 4.

What happens when a (USB) drive is plugged in or removed whilst RISC OS is
running?
