Converting disk images and maintaining attributes onvert

Why not use a disk image utility on a machine that understands
load and exection address, ie the A5000 itself?

ImageDFS from Warm Silence <see http://www.yqcomputer.com/ ;
understands DFS disk images, and you can pull all the files out and
drop them into the file server.

At < http://www.yqcomputer.com/ ; there are tools that will copy
a disk image to a physical floppy disk. An ADFS disk can then be
accessed by the A5000 just like any other ADFS disk.

Thanks I'll give ImageDFS a go. The real reason I'm not keen on using
disks or disk images is the medium itself. Like everyone else I guess, I
have 40 odd 3.5" ADFS disks knocking around since 1987 when I first got my
PRES Electron + 3 - but they do get lost / damaged and they won't last
forever. Nor I grant you will my A5000 which is the keystone of my
econet - but at least if I can avoid disks altogether that's one less
hurdle.

Cheers
Jerry

I'm afraid the warmsilence link that's referred to on that page looks to be
dead.

I think ImageDFS was written by Michael Borcherds (Murklesoft),
all other software he has written is now sold by himself.

But it is not offered on his website unfortunately...maybe
asking him directly would be a good idea.

Hmmm. What are you storing the disk images on if not on a disk of
some sort?

Thanks. I've updated it.

I'd completely forgotten about that. There's an updated version at
http://www.yqcomputer.com/
years ago...
