Help: Belkin ADSL2+Modem with wireless G= MOMO Router

Post by C J Crai » Fri, 27 Oct 2006 07:35:27

After my wireless link gave up the ghost & demon upgraded me to 8meg.
I decided to buy a new adslmodem/rooter/wi-fi.
This set up easily on the PC side on default setting but I can not
fathom how the get the RISC OS side working for an internet
connection.

The routers address is 192.168.2.1
My computer was 10.0.0.4 my old gate way 10.0.0.2

There only seem to be a few numbers needed?

Mother board: Intel PRO/1000
IP adress? 10.0.0.4, net mask default. Obtain IP address manually
Primary interface ticked.

Routing 10.0.0.2

Host name IYONIX
Local domain 10.0.0.4
Prim IP server 10.0.0.2
Try name server ticked
Resolver acorn

I have tried every combination with 192.168.2.1

Has anyone any experience of this?
What numbers should I enter?

(Sent from my old router)

Chris

I have done it here and eventually got it working. I do know you can't
use 10.x.x.x and 192.168.x.x on the same network. Have you tried Paul
Vigay's guide to getting a network going:

In article < XXXX@XXXXX.COM >,

The Iyonix should now be 192.168.2.n, where n is is any number between 2
and 255.

Alternatively, using the pc, change the router's address to 10.0.0.2

The disadvantage of this approach is that if you have to do a factory
reset on the modem, it will go back to its default 192.168.2.1.

Best to change the RiscOS to match the new IP address range.

Somewhere on drobe there is an article explaining, at great length,
about IP addressing.

You need to set the Iyonix to 192.168.2.n where n is a number which no
other computer on your network uses. Also, set the Iyonix Gateway and DNS
numbers to 192.168.2.1 so that it finds the router. Subnet mask should be
set to 255.255.255.0

On the PC side it is probably working using DHCP. It may be worth while
using the PC to change the router DHCP settings so that it only uses
addresses above 192.168.2.20. This will leave you plenty of room for
static IPs below that, ie the one you assign your Iyonix.

Best of all would be to set up DHCP on the Iyonix so that you don't have
to set any IP addresses up. I leave it to someone else to describe how to
do that.

Cheers,
