1200 Video Issues

I've just pulled my 1200 out of storage and have noticed that the
video signal dies after a few mins. The machine itself still works,
sound etc. but no screen.....

What's broken..?????

My crystal ball can't tell me the details unfortunately, so you need to do
that.

Things like specifications, what sort of conditions the A1200 was stored
under (dry/hot/humid etc) to what you are using for a monitor and what you
are seeing on the screen before it dies for a start.

The machine itself was stored in a dry place. The hard drive has died
but this I can fix. The screen is displaying whatever should be on the
screen and then just goes blank, and this happens on every monitor I
connect to the 'video' out socket (co-ax).

Further investigation suggests that something is getting hot and
switching the screen off. IE: The first time the machine lasts up to 2
mins, the next re-boot it's less than 1, then it's screen stays black.
The machine itself is still working, I can boot a game and the sound
continues to work ok, as do the floppy accesses, just with no screen.

Hope that helps with any ideas...

do
you

There`s 3 ways to get video.
Obviously AV video/out is problematic, so try one of the other 2
alternatives.

OK, tried the TV out, still blanks after 2 mins. I don't have a video
cable so can't test the direct video feed. Anyone have the pin-outs so
I can make one up for my Phillips CM8833II so I can test it.

My 1200 lives again, just by using an external 520. So I guess it's
the internal Composite circuit that's problamatic and not the machine
itself...

I'm happy..

Thanks for all of the input...

Looks OK, but I'm primarily using the video out on the side of the
unit to work my monitor. This is perfect.
